Like a member of your family, Agro Processors & Atmospheric Gases (Pvt.) Ltd. (APAG) has been sharing the joys of health and happiness with you since 1981 with brands such as Soya Supreme and Malta.
A family concern established by 3 brothers who migrated to Pakistan in 1947, gifting their new homeland an entrepreneurial spirit and a commitment to excellence; APAG is the result of determination, dedication and vision.
The story of APAG is intertwined with the history of Pakistan’s creation. During the days of The Great Partition three brothers migrated from what was once Bombay to Karachi. The brothers all in their 20’s, swept by the wave of optimism and new-founded patriotism left their familial home in search for their destiny in the newly created Pakistan.
A close-knit trio, the brothers were held together by an entrepreneurial spirit and a love for food. Though they had very few connections in the new Pakistan they worked hard and with luck on their sides E.M. Oil Mills was created in the 1960’s. Their brand Malta was launched and soon came to be loved for its fine quality in both cooking oil and ghee.
Turbulent times hit the Ghulamhussain family in the 70’s when nationalization was all the rage. They saw their hard work and creation taken from them by the government. Left without their factory and brand it took the Ghulamhussain family several years to regroup. Energized by the second generation they founded APAG (Agro Processors and Atmospheric Gases Pvt Ltd) in 1981.
APAG began by supplying industrial gasses to the Pakistan Airforce and also to beverage companies like Coca-Cola. At the same time the CEO worked hard to revive the edible oil and fats business. In the early 1980’s APAG began creating the highest quality industrial margarine which revolutionized the bakery industry. From the mid 1980’s till today most of the chicken patties, biscuits, pastries and cakes made in small, roadside bakeries to large commercial use the margarine created and perfected at APAG.
In the 1990s APAG launched Soya Supreme. After 5 years of research and foreign collaboration they were able to design the only cooking oil plant in Pakistan that treated the oil at Ultra High Temperature. With its superior quality visible in the light color of the oil and refined texture, Soya Supreme grew to compete with 80 year old Brands like Dalda.
Now with the third generation of the Ghulamhussain family involved in the business, APAG is looking to expand and diversify while staying true to their principles of quality and love of food. Their commitment has been recognized by many awards.
